Cyphostemma juttae

Cyphostemma juttae is one of our favourite plants here, hands down. It makes an incredible specimen or feature plant. 

This species can reach about 2 metres tall and has large beautiful leaves, a very large pachycaul form and striking red grape-like fruit. It is a deciduous plant. It grows in an arid region of summer-rainfall, and it loses its leaves in the dryer winter. These plants are very tough but do not like heavy frost. Often in colder climates they are planted in the ground in spring and then dug up in winter, once the leaves have fallen, and left in storage until spring comes around again and the cycle repeats itself. This has no negative impact on the plant as they tend to lose most of their fibrous roots during colder months, naturally.
